I find this clip hilarious. But the not so funny thing is that many businesses still treat their customers very poorly. You’d think by now that most businesses would understand how to talk to people and deliver great customer service. Sadly, many businesses haven’t developed enough emotional intelligence, so they fail miserably.

On the other hand, there are some rare examples of great customer service. One example is my grandpa’s Chinese restaurant.

Too many people these days are shallow in their adoption of deep ideas. They adopt a deep idea but they don’t understand it deeply. This is a problem because it gets misused and other shallow people are introduced to the shallowness of a truly deep idea and reject the depth they never saw. This comes about because they are not playing with ideas long enough.

Value Creativity

Society has successfully brutalised creative thinking to such an extent that no one seems to know what being creative really is anymore. People often associate being creative with being able to draw or paint, and that certainly can be creative, but it’s a limiting definition.

Worse than that, this lack of understanding indicates that people don’t really value creativity in the true sense of the word. As a culture, it’s always important to reevaluate what we value. Do we value creativity or is it a waste of time? (more…)
